TERMS OF SERVICE
Important: Bald Sports contests use crypto assets, smart contracts, and published contest rules. You can lose your entire entry. Review the rules and risks before buying an entry.
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Bald Sports websites, apps, contests, smart-contract interfaces, and related services (together, the "Platform"). "Bald Sports," "we," "us," and "our" mean the operator of the Platform.
By accessing the Platform, connecting a wallet, creating or using an account, buying an entry, submitting picks or votes, claiming a payout, or otherwise using Bald Sports, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
2. What Bald Sports is
Bald Sports is an onchain sports competition platform built on Base. The first launch is designed around World Cup 2026 knockout-stage formats, including Survivor and Bracket.
Users buy entries with USDC, submit sports picks under published rules, and may vote on how the contest prize pool is deployed between rounds. Depending on the contest and round, the prize pool may remain in USDC or may be deployed into predefined spot-asset strategies selected through participant voting.
Bald Sports offers rules-based sports contests. Participation is subject to these Terms, contest-specific rules, and eligibility requirements. It is not a sportsbook, casino, lottery, prediction market, exchange, broker, investment adviser, bank, securities offering, or investment product. Bald Sports does not set betting lines, take the opposite side of user picks, offer leverage, or guarantee profits. Contest legality varies by jurisdiction, and you are responsible for confirming that your participation is lawful where you are located and where you reside.
Bald Sports is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or connected to FIFA, the FIFA World Cup, or any national team, league, federation, player, or tournament organizer unless expressly stated in writing.
3. Eligibility
You may use the Platform only if all of the following are true:
- You are at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is greater.
- You are not located in, ordinarily resident in, or accessing the Platform from the United States.
- You are not located in, ordinarily resident in, or accessing the Platform from any jurisdiction where use of the Platform would be illegal or would require Bald Sports to be licensed, registered, or approved before offering the Platform to you.
- You are not subject to sanctions or listed on any restricted-party list maintained by OFAC, Global Affairs Canada, the United Nations, the European Union, or another applicable authority.
- You are not using the Platform on behalf of a restricted, sanctioned, or prohibited person.
- Your use of the Platform complies with all laws that apply to you.
We may block, restrict, suspend, or refuse access to the Platform based on location, wallet screening, sanctions screening, risk controls, legal obligations, or suspected violation of these Terms. You may not use VPNs, proxies, false information, alternate wallets, or other methods to evade eligibility checks or geoblocks.
4. Age gate, risk attestation, and terms acceptance
Before buying an entry, submitting picks or votes, claiming a payout, or using other restricted app features, you must confirm that you are old enough to use the Platform, that you understand crypto and contest risks, and that you accept these Terms. We may log your wallet address, timestamp, IP address, attestation choices, and Terms version for compliance and record-keeping purposes.
5. Wallets and accounts
You are responsible for your wallet, private keys, recovery phrases, devices, wallet approvals, and any transactions or signatures you authorize. Wallet transactions are generally irreversible.
Bald Sports may use third-party wallet, authentication, embedded-wallet, and onramp providers, including providers such as Privy if enabled in the app. Those providers may have their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control third-party wallets, embedded-wallet providers, onramps, RPC providers, or blockchain networks.
We may show wallet-based identity features such as ENS names, generated handles, avatars, public profiles, contest history, and claim activity. Your wallet address and onchain activity may be publicly visible.
6. Entries and contest-specific rules
Each contest has its own rules, entry price, entry window, lock times, scoring logic, payout logic, disruption procedures, claim process, and any entry limits shown in the app. Contest-specific rules are part of these Terms. If contest-specific rules conflict with these Terms, the contest-specific rules control for that contest.
Contest rules should be reviewed before you enter. They may explain material details such as prize value, number of prizes, entry requirements, method of determining winners, factors affecting outcomes, tie treatment, cancellation, disputes, claim timing, and prize distribution. Do not enter a contest unless you understand its rules.
Survivor and Bracket are separate contests with separate entries, prize pools, and payouts. Buying an entry for one contest does not enter you into another contest.
Entries are purchased with USDC on Base. For v1, Bald Sports does not charge a platform fee or rake. Entry amounts received by Bald Sports-controlled contest smart contracts are intended to be allocated to the relevant contest prize pool. Network gas, wallet, onramp, protocol, bridge, swap, or other third-party fees may still apply.
7. No refunds after contest start
Unless the app or contest-specific rules say otherwise, entries may be refundable only if a contest is cancelled before contest start. Contest start is the first round pick lock time for that contest.
After contest start, refunds are not supported except where required by applicable law or expressly provided through a published contest rule, emergency process, or smart-contract refund mode.
8. Picks, votes, locks, and publication
You may be able to submit or update picks, brackets, and strategy votes until the applicable lock time. After lock, submissions cannot be changed.
Submissions may be made through wallet signatures and may be staged offchain before being published or committed onchain. Pick locks and vote locks may be different. Batch publication may occur after lock and is not guaranteed to be immediate. The latest valid signed submission received before the applicable lock is intended to control, subject to the contest rules, backend validation, and smart-contract rules.
Pending picks, votes, and bracket submissions are intended to remain private to you until the relevant batch is published. Once published onchain or included in a public contest dataset, that information may become public, permanent, and visible to others.
9. Prize pool voting and DeFi execution
Between rounds, eligible entries may vote on predefined prize pool strategy options. Vote weight is generally one entry equals one vote. The winning option is generally determined by plurality, with ties resolved by the lowest option identifier. If a USDC or stable-hold option is offered in a round, that CASH option is intended to have the lowest option identifier.
Strategy options may include holding USDC as CASH or spot swaps into supported assets. Perpetuals, leverage, and derivatives are not part of the v1 contest strategy set.
Prize pool deployment can increase or decrease the amount ultimately available for winners. If a selected strategy cannot be executed safely or fails, the system may hold or return the prize pool to USDC under the contest's safety rules. This is not a promise that the pool will preserve value.
If Bald Sports displays a starting prize pool, sponsor bond, or starting pool guarantee, that guarantee applies only to the starting pool at the relevant time and does not guarantee the final payout after strategy execution, DeFi activity, market movement, protocol risk, protocol fees, slippage, execution costs, or unwind.
10. Results, finality, disruptions, and VOID
Sports results shown in the app may be provisional before they become official for contest purposes. The Platform may use sports data providers, review procedures, and oracle mechanisms such as UMA to determine official contest outcomes.
The canonical truth unit for World Cup knockout matches is the team that advances. Contest rules may include emergency extensions, Safe Harbor treatment, terminal VOID outcomes, cancellation, or refund modes for delayed, disputed, abandoned, replayed, forfeited, or otherwise disrupted matches.
Bald Sports may correct errors, mark results as under review, delay grading, extend rounds, or use published disruption rules where needed to preserve contest integrity.
11. Payouts and claims
After a contest settles, winners may be able to claim USDC through a smart-contract claim process. Payouts may use a Merkle root or similar claim mechanism. Claim transactions may require gas and may be callable by anyone, but the payout should be sent to the wallet recipient encoded in the claim data.
Contest rules or the app may specify claim windows, unclaimed-prize treatment, failed-transaction handling, and any remediation process. Bald Sports is not responsible for losses caused by lost keys, compromised wallets, incorrect wallet use, unsupported wallets, phishing, or transactions you authorize outside the official Platform.
You are responsible for checking claim details, wallet addresses, and transaction prompts before signing. You are also responsible for any taxes, reporting, or other obligations arising from entries, payouts, claims, or crypto transactions.
12. Key risks
Using Bald Sports involves significant risk. You acknowledge and accept that:
- You can lose your entire entry fee.
- The final prize pool may be lower than the starting prize pool.
- Crypto assets are volatile and may lose value quickly.
- USDC can depeg, be frozen, be blacklisted, become unavailable, or otherwise fail to behave as expected.
- Smart contracts may contain bugs, vulnerabilities, or design flaws, including if they have not been audited or if an audit fails to find an issue.
- Base, Ethereum, RPC providers, bridges, wallets, or other infrastructure may be delayed, congested, censored, unavailable, exploited, or incorrect.
- DeFi protocols, liquidity venues, price oracles, and swap routes may fail, be exploited, be affected by MEV, front-running, slippage, failed swaps or unwinds, or produce worse-than-expected execution.
- Sports data providers, oracle systems, and operator processes may be delayed, disputed, or incorrect.
- Transactions and signatures can be irreversible.
- Token approvals and malicious signatures can create wallet risks outside the contest mechanics. Review every wallet prompt carefully.
- Laws and regulations may change, and access to the Platform may be restricted or discontinued.
Your contest principal at risk is intended to be the entry fee you put into the contest. You may also incur gas, onramp, wallet, tax, third-party, and other costs. Bald Sports cannot protect you from losses caused by your own wallet actions, compromised devices, excess approvals, phishing, malicious websites, or third-party services.
13. Compliance checks
We may conduct age, location, sanctions, fraud, bot, abuse, wallet, and risk checks before or after wallet connection, entry purchase, claim, or other Platform activity. These checks may use IP address, wallet address, device/browser signals, attestations, third-party services, and onchain data.
If we believe you are ineligible, restricted, sanctioned, using the Platform unlawfully, evading controls, manipulating the contest, or violating these Terms, we may block access, reject entries, cancel entries where technically possible, hold, reject, freeze, or prevent claims where legally required, request additional information, retain records, report activity to authorities, or take other steps permitted by law and the contest rules.
14. Prohibited conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the Platform for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or manipulative purposes.
- Use bots, scripts, automated systems, or coordinated wallet activity to gain an unfair advantage.
- Manipulate, attack, spam, overload, reverse engineer, or exploit the Platform, smart contracts, APIs, or infrastructure.
- Collude with other users or attempt to compromise contest integrity.
- Submit false attestations or evade geoblocks, sanctions controls, age gates, or other restrictions.
- Use multiple wallets, accounts, or identities to bypass rules, limits, screening, or risk controls.
- Interfere with another user's wallet, account, submissions, claims, or access.
- Use the Platform to launder money, finance illegal activity, or conceal the source or ownership of funds.
15. Operator and admin controls
Bald Sports relies on operators and admins for liveness, safety, execution, publication, results workflows, and emergency response. Privileged actions are intended to be narrow, auditable, and limited to the actions described in the Platform's rules, docs, or smart contracts.
Operator or admin functions may include pausing, unpausing, disabling unsafe strategy options before execution, extending schedules, triggering refund modes, publishing batches, proposing oracle assertions, executing predefined strategies, unwinding assets, and finalizing claims. These controls are intended to preserve safety and contest integrity, not to silently alter picks, votes, scoring, or payout rules outside the published rules.
16. Third-party services
The Platform may depend on third-party services and protocols, including Base, Ethereum, wallets, wallet connectors, Privy, onramps, RPC providers, block explorers, sports data providers, UMA, DeFi protocols, swap routers, analytics tools, email providers, hosting providers, and sanctions-screening providers.
We are not responsible for third-party services, protocols, networks, data, actions, outages, fees, terms, or policies. Your use of third-party services may be subject to separate terms.
17. No advice
Nothing on the Platform is financial, investment, legal, tax, accounting, betting, or other professional advice. Strategy options, voting results, pool status, analytics, educational content, and marketing copy are provided for product and informational purposes only.
You are solely responsible for deciding whether to enter a contest, vote for a strategy, make a pick, connect a wallet, approve USDC, or claim a payout.
18. Intellectual property
The Platform, branding, logos, designs, text, graphics, software, and other materials are owned by Bald Sports or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from them without our prior written permission, except as allowed by law.
19. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and retain personal information. By using the Platform, you acknowledge our Privacy Policy.
20. Changes to the Platform or these Terms
We may change, suspend, restrict, or discontinue any part of the Platform at any time. We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Platform, email, or another reasonable method. Continued use after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
Changes to contest rules should be prospective once entries are open or a contest is locked, except for published safety, compliance, exploit-response, oracle, chain-disruption, cancellation, refund, VOID, or Safe Harbor procedures needed to preserve legality, security, or contest integrity.
21. Disclaimers
The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bald Sports disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, security, and error-free operation.
We do not guarantee that contests will launch or complete, that the Platform will be uninterrupted, that smart contracts or third-party services will be secure, that sports data will be error-free, that the prize pool will increase, or that you will receive any payout.
22. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bald Sports and its affiliates, contributors, service providers, officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, punitive, or similar damages, or for lost profits, lost data, loss of goodwill, loss of crypto assets, loss of opportunity, or loss of use.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bald Sports' total liability for any claim related to the Platform will not exceed the greater of CAD $100 or the entry amounts you paid into Bald Sports-controlled contest smart contracts in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim, excluding gas, onramp, wallet, network, protocol, bridge, swap, and other third-party fees. This limit does not apply to liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
23. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Bald Sports and its affiliates, contributors, service providers, officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses arising from your use of the Platform, your violation of these Terms, your violation of law, your wallet activity, your tax obligations, or your infringement of another person's rights.
24. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to mandatory consumer protection laws that may apply, the courts located in Montreal, Quebec will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes related to these Terms or the Platform.
